HOW TO GET TO ISLA OMETEPE


Getting to Isla Ometepe requires taking the ferry from San Jorge  (Rivas), Nicaragua. This page explains the current ferry times, ticket prices and how to plan your journey to the island.

The ferries to Moyogalpa take approx 1 HOUR 


Moyogalpa is the largest port on the island and there are always taxis waiting there, no need to pre book. 

There are also four ferries  a day to San Jose Del Sur on Isla Ometepe. We recommend pre booking a taxi with one of the numbers listed below if you are arriving to San Jose Del Sur.

FERRY TICKET PRICES

Foot passengers pay 50 cordobas each way.

When travelling to the island there is also a tourist tax of US$1 per passenger.



VEHICLE PRICES & RESERVATIONS

Depending on the Ferry the prices are US$15 - US$20 for a car. 

Motorbikes are priced at 50 cordobas per trip. 

You MUST pre book if you want to take a vehicle on the Ferry. 

Up to date contact numbers are available below. They will want to know your name, time and date of the ferry you wish to reserve, what type of vehicle you are travelling with and the registration plate of the vehicle.

No pre payment is required, it is CASH only to be paid at the port.

Make sure to arrive more than 1 hour before the departure time if travelling with a vehicle. 



TAXES WHEN TRAVELLING TO ISLA OMETEPE

If you are travelling with goods purchased on the mainland they may be liable for taxes which are priced in the tax office on the left hand side on the way to the ferries.
